Urgent appeal to save St Collen’s Church medieval roof

St Collen’s Church has launched an urgent worldwide funding appeal to save its medieval roof from decay and possible loss. Considered perhaps the finest in Wales, the 500-year-old roof is showing signs of damp and possible beetle infestation.

Please, join us in this urgent mission to restore and protect St Collen’s. The goal is to raise the funds necessary to preserve this roof and ensure it remains a beacon of Welsh culture and history for generations to come. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to saving this incredible piece of our heritage. Together, we can save this extraordinary piece of Wales for the future.

Donations can be made via a JustGiving page here.

St Derfel and the Music Maker

Here are two YouTube links to some lovely local music which was recorded in St Derfel Church over the recent October half term.

The pieces are by Julian Rees, who is a local schoolteacher and mandolin player. He has written a book entitled: 'Welsh Airs & Dance Tunes for Mandolin' which has just been published by Mel Bay and is based on the work of harpist Edward Jones, born in Llandderfel in 1752.
