Valle Crucis Mission Area is a gathering of Anglican churches in North East Wales. Part of St Asaph Diocese, the Church in Wales, our churches serve communities in the Ceiriog Valley, and the Dee Valley from Llangollen to Bala, and Cerrigydrudion to Llandegla. Because we’re a Mission Area, it means that there will be a church and community where you feel most at home, although it's worth bearing in mind this may not necessarily be the closest church building to you.
Valle Crucis Mission Area comprises 14 Anglican Church in Wales churches and three Pilgrim churches.
Covering a geographical area of 500 square miles (larger than Bahrain and the Isle of Man!), it takes its name from the ruined Cistercian Abbey at Llangollen. Valle Crucis, Latin for Valley of the Cross, which was founded in 1201 by Prince Madog ap Gruffydd and the ‘white monks’ of the Cistercian order.
From our ancient village parish churches nestling among some of the area’s most beautiful rural landscapes, to our urban and suburban churches embedded in thriving communities, we offer everyone the opportunity to worship and praise in a faithful, friendly and supportive environment.
Our Valle Crucis Mission Area churches and church communities are all so different, so there really is something for everyone.
